Teaching Philosophy

In the world of education there are vast methods that are applied in teaching material to students. I find that it is critical to not only conduct thorough lessons but to have an intimate “hands on” approach with the students. My wish is to open a reformation camp geared towards the rehabilitation and education of troubled youths that have not been afforded fair opportunities. Many of these children will have come from impoverished backgrounds, incarceration, and abusive situations. The reconstruction of an ill thought process, reintegration into society, education, and the learning of everyday life skills are crucial to these Individuals.
I would relish the opportunity to share my life experiences while mentoring disgruntled adolescents and reforming them into honorable citizens that have the equal probability to prosper. I have personally made great strides in the achievement of “breaking the cycle”. I want to share my past and educate these children that it is possible to overcome the “impossible” with knowledge and the correct mindset. In this process it is important to build self-esteem with praise for the display of eager learning, integrity, and self control.
My program would be designed to reform these qualified youths through an application and screening process. Mitigating and aggravating factors of their particular case would be used as an assessment as well as an educational placement exam. This, would allow the camp to choose the most deserving individuals for a chance to absorb the needs from people much like myself that are passionate about rehabilitation and education. I want to plant seeds in the minds our more troubled youths that desire a chance to turn their lives around in a productive manner.
I firmly believe that education in combination with a discipled regime would lay the ground work for a successful future. Therefore, a live in 6-12 month program would be best suited to tackle the needs of the youths accepted. They would be given a daily schedule consisting of a plethora of segments; amongst these would be education, individual and group counseling, fitness, and recreation. They would also be learning the necessary life skills such as food preparation, banking, public speaking and so on. Occasional trips and seminars would also be part of my tools that I would be using to structure these students. They would be encouraged regularly to attend the college fairs and trade school tours to have a solid idea of what to expect upon the graduation process. It would be a requirement that all students obtain a GED during their stay and have an effective plan for their future.
I propose that 2/3 of the program’s candidates will achieve great success and no recidivism. I am confident that along with my compassionate yet stern teaching method I can successfully develop these minds into righteous and intelligent people! Teaching Philosophy
